Mogadishu Minicipality has started slaughtering livestock collected from the main streets of the capital

The Municipal of Hamar today started a campaign to slaughter the animals that were released on the streets of the capital, according to the director of the department of cleanliness of Banadir region.

Director Mohamud Sudi explaining the action taken said that this order was given by the governor of Banadir region and the mayor of Mogadishu, Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madale).

“Operations were carried out yesterday in Banadir region, especially; Waliyow Adde and Central have been seized from animals that are a problem for the cleanliness and beauty of the capital,” said the director of the sanitation department.

He added, “The operation was carried out by the administrations of the 17 districts of the Banadir region and the three localities and a committee appointed by the Mayor to revive the beauty of the city and its cleanliness, which is chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Security and Politics of the Banadir Region, Mohamed Ahmed Diriye (Yabooh),” said director Mohamud Sudi.

Also, Mohamud Sudi added that today Tuesday they implemented the order mentioned in the decree of the Mayor of Mogadishu that 24 hours after the animals were deposited, if the owner does not come to them, they will be slaughtered, saying that the animals will be slaughtered today. They were slaughtered for 24 hours.

“We are at Piaso Libero. Yesterday we brought 166 cows and 11 goats. We fined 30 cows and 11 goats. For the rest animals, we carried out the decision to slaughter, following the Mayor’s order that their meat be bagged and distributed to the poor people living in the country’s capital,” added the Director of Cleanliness of Muqdisho.

This action of slaughtering the animals seized from the streets of the capital will be the first to be carried out by the Banadir Regional Administration, and it will continue soon, until a solution is found for the animals on the dirt roads.
