The launch of a competition called “Hirgeli Hibadada” was held in Mogadishu

An event for the purpose of literary competition (Hirgeli Hibadada) was launched today at the Somali National Theatre, and the opening of this competition was witnessed; Poets, scholars, government officials and other invited guests.

The competition was launched by the Deputy Minister of Information of Somalia, Abdirahman Yusuf Sheikh who said that this competition is intended for Somali youth to showcase their artistic skills.Also, officials who spoke at the meeting said that the plan of this competition is for the people of Afmaal to present literature about patriotism, the interest of the Somali nation, pointing out the Khawarij threats that have caused a lot of problems in our country and that the writers give a general measure of how we can protect our heritage like; our good religion, our soil, our flag and our borders.

Poet Abdidhuh who spoke at the venue said that everyone who is in the competition is expected to show their literary talent, and everyone’s talent will be considered in the competition.“We promise that there will be no bias and everyone present or absent will get their rights,” Abdidhuh added. “Also, everyone who corrects the rhyme and weight of the poem, it does not happen, but it can be ranked according to the levels like; one, two and three”.

Finally, the officials who spoke at the venue admitted that such a competition was needed, and they hope to bring out young Somalis with literary talent that the country and the Somali people can be proud of.
