The Governor of Banadir Region and the Mayor of Mogadishu, Mr. Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madaale) who spoke at an event to transfer the funds to Somalia’s participation in Turkey’s earthquake relief which was held today in Mogadishu, said that the administration of Banadir Region will pay the rest of the first phase of Somalia aid to supporting the Turkish brothers.
Governor Yusuf Madale said that Somalia has a greater responsibility than the rest of the world to the Turkish brothers, as they came to Somalia’s aid when the rest of the world was silent.
“You all said what the Turkish brothers deserve from us,” said the Mayor of Mogadishu, who added that it is necessary for Somalis to take responsibility.
Governor Madale said: “What the Turkish brothers did for us should not be forgotten, they helped us on a day when our people were in need and our children were dying on their mothers because of hunger, and there was no one to help. You remember that Erdogan and his wife came to Mogadishu to show the rest of the world that Somalia can be visited and its people can be helped”.
The mayor of Mogadishu said that the money they are transferring today is not what the Turkish brothers deserved, but it is what they were able to do, and we will continue our efforts to help our brothers.
Governor Madale said that a small amount of money is better than a lot of money that is not available.
Finally, the Prime Minister of the country, the Speaker of the Parliament and other officials of the Banadir regional government spoke at the venue, who said that the Turkish brothers deserve to be supported.
