The administration of Banadir Region and the Local Government of Hamar held a prayer and mourning meeting at the Local Government House for those who died in the damage caused by the strong earthquake that hit some parts of Turkey.
“We are standing in the sun to show our brothers and sisters in Turkey that we are suffering with them, as they were also suffering with us and the problem we are in,” said the governor of Banadir region who spoke at the prayer meeting.
This prayer was attended by the Governor of Banadir Region, the Mayor of Mogadishu Mr. Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madaale) and his deputies, the Secretary General, some Somali clerics and other officials.
The mayor of Mogadishu said that the attitude of the Somali people is a proof of Islam between them and Syria which was hit by an earthquake.
“This morning I watched Aljazeera, the death toll of the people who died in the earthquake in Turkey was 13,000 people and the search was still going on, and the injuries were 60,000 people, and it is shocking,” said the Mayor of Mogadishu. He added that 3,000 people died in Syria, while 6,000 people were injured.
Finally, the Mayor of Mogadishu said that God will accept the prayer and he prayed to God to have mercy on the dead and to heal the wounded.
