The acting governor of Banadir region and the mayor of Mogadishu, who is the deputy governor of security and politics of Banadir region, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Diriye (Yabooh) said that the aid collection for the Turkish brothers is playing a prominent role in Banadir region.
Governor Yabooh made this statement at a meeting for the Turkish brothers held last night in Mogadishu. The meeting was attended by the country’s first minister, members of the cabinet, businessmen, civil society organizations and the people living in Mogadishu.
“I thank the President and the Prime Minister of Somalia for the decision to establish a relief committee for the Turkish and Syrian brothers who were hit by earthquakes,” said Governor Yabooh.
Also, he told about the assistance provided by Turkey to the Somali people, when they were in trouble, and noted that most of the assistance provided to Somalia was carried out in Mogadishu, including the construction of roads, hospitals, educational institutions, the Turksom station and other important sites.
“Every Somali knows the support of the Turkish brothers. It is a fact that their help is different from the support of other countries in the world. Because the help of Turkey is visible,” said the acting Mayor of Mogadishu.
On the other hand, Mr. Yabooh said that Somali women have a great role in the relief efforts, noting that he was sent a picture of a Somali woman who said that she bought her gold to help her brothers in Turkey and Syria.
The meeting to help the people of Turkey was attended by all the governors of the districts of Banadir region and members of the women of Banadir region.
Finally, Governor Yaboo said that the administration of Banadir region will provide assistance in this emergency, asking the members who attended the meeting to play a significant role in this support.
